Your Feedback Please: The First / Next 30 Days If You’re Stuck (No matter what level)[Closed]

You know by now that I’m a big believer in getting into some sort of action as quickly as possible.

Not blind action just for the sake of action itself, but rather action in the direction you know you want to go, even if you’re not sure how you’re going to get there.

Many of you are in the process of starting your first web business, or expanding an existing business into different directions, niches, etc.

All of us will – at times – get "stuck" and not know either 1) where to begin or 2) what to do next.

The best advice I can give you is to be mindful of these key elements at all times, especially if you want to start or grow an online business selling some sort of product:

1) Where am I headed? What is the "big picture" for me in terms of where all this is going?

2) What group of people am I targeting?

3) What problem do I solve for them or what pain do I remove for them?

If you ever find yourself "lost" or firing aimlessly, always STOP what you’re doing and ask a simple question:

"What is my purpose here in doing this and how does it relate back to where I’m headed?"

If you don’t have a good answer, then stop doing what you’re doing and get back on track.

I can’t tell you how many people email me and ask "Where do I start?"

Even with all the information here in TNR, I can understand that it’s hard for you to know where to start sometimes.

To make it even more difficult to answer that question, all of you are starting at different positions on the road to your own personal success.

So what I’ve decided to do is start showing you HOW to better use the information we already have here in TNR (and of course I’ll keep adding important new information).

But rather than go nuts and start redoing EVERYTHING, I thought I’d just do a little sample here of what I had in mind and YOU tell me, is this something you would like to see more of in the future.

Tell me (in the comments below) if you would enjoy me spending some time showing you how to use what we’ve got rather than continually piling new knowledge on you.

Sample Organization:

What To Do In The Next 30 Days If You Know What Niche You Want to Target, But Don’t Know "What To Do Next"

Please, tell me what you think of this type of orgainization in the comments below.

I think it’s a great idea – I say roll with it Jim.

March 16, 2007

WOW – this is PERFECT for those of us juggling way too many tasks, ideas, and life-in-general busy-ness. Thanks, Jim, for a very creative, simple approach to the amazing (and sometimes overpowering) information available on your site.

I’ve actually dropped all other newsletters and such and consider this site MINE! It’s so full of quality info and support, that it’s all I can do to just keep up with it.

Again, thank you for thinking creatively with our needs in mind. Most excitedly, Ellie

I think this is a great idea, Jim! I definitely fall in this category of knowing what I want to do but having trouble getting organized and knowing what to do in a logical manner.

Keep it coming!

Jim,

Based on the feedback in the forum I think this is a GREAT idea.

I think the natural inclination is to continually add more and more material. That is great and I don’t think anyone here is complaining.

However, I am fairly certain that most of the members are here because they are looking for a proven, easy to follow, road-map to IM success. This will become the map that connects all of the pieces together.

Shoot, this is content as valuable as any you would normally add.

Many thanks for continuing to move this membership forward in an extremely positive direction!

Onward & Upward!

Hi Jim,

case studies and tutorials help, as do reminders of basic process, amongst such a sea of good information.

as you say its about focus, staying on the path and delivering value, while using all the techniques to get attention and convert it…

cheers,

Iain

Jim,

File this under “Just what the doctor ordered”. This is exactly what I (and probably many others) need. I am actually looking at starting a blog, so the timing was perfect.

Sometimes slowing down and diving deeper makes more sense, and for those of us still struggling to take action, it will help tremendously.

March 16, 2007

Great start, Jim! As always you’re listening to what people want and need – and responding quickly. I know we have a lot of new members and this will be particularly helpful as they start down the road to success.

I’d like to see even MORE detail on a deeper level. For example, it sounds good to say preload your blog with 30 days of posts – BUT some people may need help in HOW to create those 30 days of content. It sounds good to put in 5 autoresponder messages, AND some people need help in 1)writing the messages and 2)posting them. Etc.

The big question in doing a plan like this is how deep do you go? Do you keep drilling down to how to write an article, how to sequence an autoresponder series, how to set your email messages to 60 characters – at what point do you assume they know it?

Based on your headline for this one, I assume you will also be assembling other plans for people choosing a different path, at a different level. So I can see a whole host of plans from which members can choose, as they move from one successful model to another.

It’s a huge challenge to take on – but you’re the one who can do it! Thanks for continuing to lead the way!

I think this is really great! Just what I needed on a new site that I’ve made progress on in the last week, but got “stuck” on in the last day or two. I lost some momentum because I didn’t have a clear idea of the overall flow chart that you just put up. It’s exactly what I needed! Thanks!

March 16, 2007

Jim,

This is exactly the kind of thing I need help with! Once again, your ability to perceive and act on our PAIN amazes me.

I also concur with Jeanette’s comments. Since so many of us are working on different levels, it might help to dig down to the very basics. I think this will really help a lot of people develop a strategy and plan for getting on the right track. I know when I got started, I didn’t really know what I didn’t know. I was afraid I might miss something very critical in the process of setting something up, and failed to act because of this fear. I believe this will help with that.

You’re truly one of a kind!

Jim, this is a great idea.
I’m blond, senile and have ADHD.
New content is great; a little like a shiny new pair of shoes that you can’t wait to put on and wear out in the mud if you’re a kid.
But, I have a lot of really neat shoes already. Just need to know when to wear the right pair.
Don’t stop giving us the neat new stuff but help us to implement it into our 30 day and overall strategy.
This blueprint and action plan is exactly what I need.
I think this alone is worth the price of membership.
Knowing how to take all these pieces and putting them in place in the right order would be very helpful.
This would be great to discuss over in the forum.
Let’s take it over there.

March 16, 2007

Hi Jim,

This is an awesome idea. Focus is essential and it’s so easy to get side-tracked.

Full seed ahead mate!

March 16, 2007

Yes Jim, I’ll chime in to say this is a great idea too! Being able to look up where you think your business is and where you think you want to go, with a step-by-step model to flow is a dream come true for just about all TNR members, I would guess. I know it will be a HUGE help to me personally, since I am already getting VERY clear on where I am going….just need to optimize my time and focus actions as much as possible. These “maps” will work wonders in getting “there” FAST!

I envision TNR members being able to find the best map for where s/he is at the moment by looking up:

1. His/her type of internet business/website (i.e., affiliate, membership, online/offline product-based, online/offline service-based, etc.),

2. His/her current ability/experience level (i.e., newbie, intermediate, advanced)

3. His/her “what’s next” area of focus (i.e. big picture map with links to “how to” info, similar to what you’ve done above)

I’m sure you already know how you want to put this together, but that’s how your fantastic concept hits me at this point. THANKS JIM!!! Being able to use the treasure trove you’ve given us here on TNR only increases its value!!

As a side thought, I have found simply using the search box at the top to find exactly what I need at any given time to be extremely valuable already.

March 16, 2007

Boy are you on the right track! Like many I can hardly figure out where to start. I have a dozen domains, several web sites, 3 hosting companies, physical and digital products out the wazoo and still can’t bring it all together into a money generating business… I confess, I am guilty of reading too much information from too many gurus (real and otherwise) but cannot who to listen to other than you Jim. Information overload and confusion (and inaction) are the result. Where to start is perhaps the biggest problem (I’m an engineering type, paralysis of analysis explains some of it). I know the niche is first and probably keywords and content and product next but then it gets real fuzzy. What order should these things be in? The blog, website security and privacy issues, landing page(s), download pages, how to collect the money, autoresponders and messages and did I mention traffic? And what should I worry about and not worry about? Hey, you asked! Thanks for asking…

March 16, 2007

Amen to everything others have written. Like Jeanette says, can you assume people already know the basics? In my case, I find some great ideas and then get bogged down because I don’t understand some basic part of the concept.

I can across notes yesterday from some session I had attended with you several months ago where you said if we didn’t understand how a program worked to just start whacking buttons to see what they do. I still have a bit of reluctance to do that because I’m afraid I’ll screw something up and not be able to start over.

I got my blog set up yesterday (WrodPress on Host Gator) and was amazed at how easy it was once I just started doing it! I discovered that it was super simple just because I started “whacking buttons”. And I didn’t screw anything up! A great confidence booster!

I love the content you’ve provided us so far and look forward to the implementation of your new ideas!

Ruby

March 16, 2007

HI Jim –
I think this is a great idea, and agree with some of Jeannette’s comments as well in terms of how deep do you go. It wasn’t clear how you were going to deliver this – posts on the site or telecourse/webinar – I think the latter 2 would be great, AND if people on the call are interested to use something like freeconference.com to set up check ins with each other – I think the accountability factor is what makes a huge difference. Maybe smaller groups of people who are at similar levels. I think that’s too much to ask you to take on, but those who were interested could set up accountability calls, and let you know of them – if you wanted to join in from time to time when you wanted you could – “or not – with no obligation!”. Maybe we could brainstorm with you for one time for suggestions for “rules/guidelines’ for the groups. I’ve been looking for an affordable accountability group that I could ‘click’ with and this might be the way to find/create it!

Jim,
The information you provide is so pertinent and of the highest quality. But you are so right in understanding the difficulty of knowing the best way to put all the pieces together to be the most effective. This is a great idea and it would be immensley helpful in getting down the road to success more quickly. You’ve got the gift for keeping in touch with where we all are and helping us to overcome our struggles so we can be successful.
Thanks so much!

March 16, 2007

hi jim–

setting up those models representing different IM pathways, and also where people find themselves in their businesses–allowing them to go right to the pages in TNR to get the info–well, is a stroke of genius, jim, and i thank you.

if further clarification is needed, or questions, the forum can provide added discussion on said topics.

i like it, and want to see more!!!!!!!!!

March 16, 2007

Jim, great info and request!

I see the TNR site as a L-A-R-G-E fire tanker full of info! Sometimes you take a little sip and other times when you get overwhelmed it’s like the hose is turned up full blast and you just stand in the stream and READ!

TNR has info bites that can be put together to make a kick-butt plan if the person has a handle on their niche and their solution for them.

However, it is always wonderful and refreshing to get inside of the guru’s head that created the site and ALL that FAB INFO it contains…

So, I’m waiting to see your Follow-Me-This-Way plan… and turn up the hose full blast if you want !

Healthy Blessings… Cynthia

March 16, 2007

Perfect! Perfect! Perfect!

I’m with everyone else on this.

You’ve already given us so much fantastic material with which to build our online businesses. This step by step process will be invaluable for staying focused and taking the right steps in the right order.

Brilliant plan!

Dave.

March 16, 2007

What a great idea, Jim. I have only been a member of the TNR for a few months. This site is so full of information that I have not been able to cover much of it. I am in the process of launching my first website, so I know I need all this info, however, there aren’t enough hours in the day to get it all done. This model will help speed up the learning curve.

Thanks,
Sharon

Jennie Lou Klenner

Hi Jim,
I like it a lot…as usual you are right on target. :-)

I agree with other member’s comments, when they suggested you continue to provide the new material, while helping to implement it.

A suggestion, if I may, is the inclusion of a sitemap. Sometimes when I am searching for something, seeing a “Table of Contents” type of listing usually helps me identify the category where the item may be located.

Regards always,
Jennie Lou

March 16, 2007

Hey Jim and everybody.

Well, I’ll make it unanimous. YES. That was positively wonderful. I could have (and perhaps should) have spent all day just with that one layout. Organizing what you already have on this glorious site would help tremendously. There is SO MUCH on this site and I’ve felt for quite some time that you don’t really need to add more since I haven’t been able to sort thru all the stuff you have!

Go for it. And thanks. I repeat, joining TNR was one SMART thing I have done in my internet biz among many, many, many STUPID things.

March 16, 2007
Dr Betsy

Absolutely! This is the best idea and I like your schematic chart!
Will we get to request and/or vote on which questions we would like to see charted out?

March 16, 2007

Jim, this is perfect. The level of detail is perfect too…although some have said it needs to explain more and your road map assumes folks know the “how to” parts, but that’s not what I see.

I see the keys to the treasure room! I can look at this logic or decision tree, success matrix, road map, or whatever you want to call it, find myself… and make a smart decision on what I need to do next.

If I don’t know how to do it, I can go find the right info at TNR and learn or buy the product I need to get me there.

The only 2 suggestions I have are: first add a reference note on big steps that point us to the right material such as on “Optimized Blog”. If I’ve never blogged I’ll need some info, so if what you’re talking about is explained in your material, add :see Blog Profits Video or Website Video Secrets Vol 2.

On “Squeeze Page” add see “Webinar with the Squeeze Master”

And so on and so on. Instead of cramming all that info on the chart just use a cross reference charts: Optimize Blog (2) and then on the cross reference or index list “2 – Blog Profits Video” You can always post the chart and follow-up with the index later.

Second: HURRY!

March 16, 2007

Great stuff.. I particularly like that you linked to the bacground material and the how to’s for this what to.

This is so deceptively simple…and like others have said a lot of work on your part to make it so easy to follow…a great blueprint for action.

And that, action, is what it is all about.

thanks so much!!!!

Jim, you are the best investment. This sounds to good to be true, But since it’s you sayin it, it’s par for the course! This is nothing short of spectacular. I’m in favor of the drilling into the basics as Jeanette and others have so clearly stated.

Thanks Jim, I appreciate you!

Hey Jim,

I really like your idea of using flow charts/process maps and believe it to be a huge benefit to all the folks here.

It’d be really cool to be able to study and learn a process in that format and then hand it off to an assistant or outsourcer for their reference.

The more detailed steps, the better.

Thanks!

Okay – it’s official – I’m IN LOVE with Jim Edwards and I’ll SHOUT IT TO THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!

Jim, this is exactly what I’m personally looking for. I’m overwhelmed to the point of sitting quietly in my chair and humming for hours because I don’t know what to do, read, plan, and follow through on next – I’ve become ineffective and very frustrated.

This is invaluable for me.

THANK YOU.

March 16, 2007

I think the roadmap idea is great, but I agree with Jeanette about providing greater definition to the roadmaps. I’ll have to admit that when I looked at the chart, my first thought was, “Great. Another flowchart to figure out how to apply it to my business.”

Not that the flow isn’t useful — it’s just that my problem has always been narrowing down my options enough to apply the processes to my resources.

For example, you mention preloading 30 days worth of blog posts at a time. My shortfall is that I sometimes get stuck figuring out what I’m going to choose to write on my blog for one day. Providing information on how to effectively plan a month’s worth of blogs would be helpful. (I’m sure if I looked around on the site long enough, I could find something that deals with that, but even with the detailed index of the site I’ve set up for myself, nothing immediately comes to mind.)

The way you break things down under step three of the flowchart is actually more helpful to me. It breaks down what the goal of each autoresponder message is, making it easier to narrow down the scope of each message down enough to carry out.

So right now, Jim, you’re probably thinking, “Can’t this dummy do anything for himself? Do I have to lay out everything for him?” My answer is, “Not necessarily.” I’m simply talking from a place where I have accumulated so much information and so many tactics over the years that I have trouble piercing through the clutter enough to narrow down the scope of things.

Call me a recovering info-holic. I know so many things I COULD do that I have trouble seeing what I NEED TO do. That’s where a little more definition, a little more narrowing of the scope would come in handy for me. Maybe I’m the only one, but I suspect there are others in the same boat.

That said, I think your roadmap idea is a great idea and much needed!

March 16, 2007

I almost forgot. Another thing this roadmap idea would allow you to do is to repurpose the material already on the site. With the sheer volume of information on the site it’s easy to forget what all is available.

The other day, one of the members of the mastermind group I’m in was talking about a recording she had heard Jim and Yanik do. It applied perfectly to something we were talking about. None of the rest of us remembered it, so we assumed she had gotten it as a bonus with one of Jim’s products.

She promised to figure out where we could get it. But when she checked the TNR site the next day, there it was! The rest of us had simply forgotten it.

Setting up roadmaps would refresh our memories of the resources already on the site and give us the opportunity to review those resources from the perspective of how they fit into various business processes instead of looking at them simply in isolation.

That’s not to say that I wouldn’t want Jim ever to add any new information to the site! But it would add another level to the site’s value to see all these skills and strategies in context of how they fit into the larger picture.

Humphrey Pullar

Hi Jim

Thank you for this. I will run with the pack here. There is so much information and so many tips on TNR that, as a new user, I hardly know where to start. As a result I click here, click there, learn a bit, try a bit and then on logging off promptly forget most of it.
Like so many people, I find too much information hard to organise, and I find too much good / excellent information overwhelming.
It certainly would help thus to have your information organised in a way that can be digested. Of course how you organise it might not be the way it ultimately gets used, but this does not really matter. It would be excellent to have it organised in systematic ways. This allows, at least for me, a useful way to digest and understand information, and a basis by which to organise it into a praxis I can use.
Thank you for all your work. You have encouraged and inspired me many times. In the world of internet training I know that what you deliver is good, useful and more often than not a big jolt to my way of thinking. I am expecting great results, and your work has given me confidence in this expectation.

Regards

Humphrey

I would like to see more in depth coverage on how to use all the great stuff you give us, but don’t stop adding new info! It’s great so keep it coming.

March 16, 2007

Bloody brilliant, Jim I love it, really good structure. Makes the info on offer way more powerful and accessable. I would like to print out these flowcharts and stick them on the wall in front of me. Would really help to keep on track. EXCELLENT!!!!!

Nice. I am definitely intrested in your suggestions for a “game plan”.

March 16, 2007

Jim,

It’s been like “Where’s Waldo” for me for some time. Having an Overview Map approach is sorely needed for us newbies who tend to get lost in the minutia (sp?)

When I get stuck in a concept but am not sure what to do first to get things going, this would be extremely helpful.

Thanx for your usual 6th sense about what we all need. Keep it up!

Michael Guess
http://www.daytradesafe.com/

March 16, 2007

This is fantastic – I like the flow of the diagram – in fact I will say that I had a bit of a aha moment just looking at this roadmap. This easy to understand roadmap of next steps to the desired destination is something that is needed – I have been dealing with putting all the “stuff” I have learned into use and this is exactly what I started to map out for myself. I do agree with the earlier posts stating that providing some great details (for those that need it) would be great. I like the idea of it being dynamic/geared towards each user, meaning I can click skip over what I don’t need to know more info about and click on those steps I still need a bit more assistance with.

March 16, 2007

Jim,
I sometimes wish you’d get out of my head (but then there’d be nothing left). Seriously, it’s as if you can read my mind and when you do so, you put down on paper (electronic paper of course) magic that jumps out and into my being.

There is so much information on your website that I could spend months doing nothing but reading everything. You’ve identified one of the problems and that is always thinking that there’s something else I need to read or look at before I get started. You addressed that in the outsourcing webinar and your few minutes of advice gave me the momentum to pull out the bootcamp info and write my request for a software product. I can’t thank you enough for those few minutes.

Alas, I digress though. This new idea you have is phenomenal. Especially the flowchart concept with bullets. We see what we have to do and then provide the links to learn more about it.

Thanks for everything!

Terrie Wurzbacher

Hi Jim,

I feel the same way as the other folks. Easy to use and easy to understand..

March 17, 2007
Kammy

Sorry to say that I am probably one of the few people not exactly excited about this. Reading through the comments, obviously I am in the very miniscule minority — I just about screamed last fall when you polled everyone and the majority said “I’m overwhelmed, please post less”. I miss the days of two or more webinars per month. The reason I could justify the expense of subscription is that I felt like if I could get enough information here in the areas I feel I need the most growth then I could cut all the other noise out of my life. Now when I see very little new or exclusive content (perhaps a factor of already being here since last summer), I am discouraged, unchallenged and tempted to wander my focus.

Not that I’m not curious how you will implement the change. I do like Gabrielle’s take on it (way above) as I am also a big fan of optimizing systems & processes but I sincerely hope you keep in mind that we are all at different levels– not all of us are stuck at the “starting” point.

I’m not trying to discourage you from what might be best for the majority, just being real.

Linda

Please continue this area.

March 17, 2007

Yes, Yes, Yes, this is an excellent idea.

I’m doing heaps of stuff but still not making much $$$$.

Cheers Ian

March 17, 2007

Hi Jim,
I feel that this would be a great asset to everyone. It brings all of the posted material and an then we could form an action plan.
It will help many to get the “Big Picture” of Internet marketing and possibly a larger profit margin.
Thanks once again for for a brilliant idea.
Good luck to you and everyone else in the TNR.
We truly are getting our moneys worth.
Sincerely,
Mike

March 17, 2007

I can definitely use this type of information.

March 17, 2007
John

Great idea. Keep up the good work please.

Thanks

March 17, 2007

Hi Jim,

I’ve got to go with Kammy 100% on this one. Either we’re in a really small minority or the original subscribers just aren’t commenting any longer. I’m finding I don’t even click over that often. When do we get to selling and traffic and taking the business to the next level? I want to talk about profits, not blog posting.

I was unhappy when you started posting less. And it sounds like we’re heading that way again–just reslanting the material already here.

I think it might be helpful for some, but don’t forget about the rest of us. In the last couple of months, I find myself buying a lot of other people’s products and services because I’m not getting what I need here. Then I think: why am I still paying the subscription fee? I could use it for so many other products that are more relevant to what I need.

I’m getting increasingly frustrated with the direction of the site. If Kammy and I are the only 2, then we need to leave or live with it. But if anyone else feels that way, please add your voice to these comments.

I signed up based on the ads that said we were going to learn the Internet marketing secrets no one tells you about. I just don’t feel we’re getting that. Most of the stuff here (not all, but a lot of it) is available elsewhere. Some of it can be found for free. Instead of progressing toward growing a business, it’s getting more and more basic. We all have newbie questions from time to time, but I feel like we’re going in the wrong direction.

Where are the secrets, Jim? When do we get to traffic and sales and growing the business?

March 18, 2007

Jim, I like the presentation very much — it’s a great way to combine the specific action steps with the big process picture.

Kammy and Debbie are not alone, however. I really appreciate the more advanced materials and would like to see a steady delivery of them.

Richard Halverson, former chaplain of the US Senate once said “It is as important to be reminded as to be informed.” So I continue to learn by going back over more basic information. Learning will shut down very quickly if I’m not open to “Gentlemen, this is a football” coaching and learning opportunities.

It’s also important for beginners to get inspired (not overwhelmed) by what’s possible for their online business in the future.

So if I can recommend a practical route it would be this, Jim: Develop a rhythm of releasing advanced material, and organizing 30-day action maps/references monthly. That rhythm, coupled with the interviews and the forum, should help a broad audience. It leverages your time, previous content, and the skills of the community well.

Absolutle!

I’m an information collector – many gigs of info but no single point resource aggregator to signpost just what I have and where it’s at. TNR is an invaluable resource about to be made infinitely better by some info mind mapping and resource collator glued together by a laterally thought-out roadmap.

Nirvana for infoholics.

Great idea – I’m late responding to this; so most of the other comments have covered my thoughts – but I would like to specifically support Jeanette Cates comments

Not a bad idea Jim, when I talked to many of the folks at the seminar it seemed that most hadn’t even gotten their first site up yet! In fact most of who I talked to seemed overwhelmed about the simplest areas like how to set up a download page, etc. just basic “this is where you start” stuff.
Maybe you could do 2 webinars a month, one to cover basic how to’s for the less advanced and a techy one for the more advanced. This way we could attend and comprehend at the individual level.
As far as some of the posters above, if you’ve gone through ALL the info here AND applied it, then you are now very successful and probably don’t need TNR anymore, go sign up for Rich’s course at $397.00 a month!
(the key here is… AND applied it!)
Sorry if I’ve ruffled a few feathers.

G’day Jim,

This is a great idea, one of the problems I have is putting all the information together into a system.

Your roadmap idea would be perfect in helping me to focus on what information I need to create my system. It would also help to confirm if I am moving in the right direction.

I like the idea that you show us the big picture of the business system based on a diagram and then we can zoom into to get the information we need to create our business.

I know this is a tall order, but it would also be good if you could do a flowchart for an affiliate business that takes us through selecting a niche, keyword research, market research, setting up our business and finally driving traffic to it.

The reason I ask is because after a couple of years trying to become an affiliate marketer I have realised that I really suck at this game, and now that I know that, I would like to improve and start to make some money.

Keep up the good work mate.

I agree with everyone, this will be such a great addition to the site and really help to focus on taking action in a structured process.

We all get so overloaded with information and it is difficult to put it all together in a simple action plan to drive our businesses forward. Getting bogged down is so common for us that are new to online business.

100% thumbs up from me Jim. Keep up the great work.

Hi Guys,

Great feedback…THANK YOU!!!… I’m taking it all in… excellent suggestions.

I have no plans to cut back on the quality of the content or stop putting in new stuff… just want to start showing how the new stuff relates to the stuff we already have.

More to come shortly :-)

Jim

I really like the concept. I would like it even better if it included some videos/webinars showing the tools and techniques you use or recommend to make it happen.

strategy is great. tactics is even better.

Many of us have never “cloaked” an affiliate URL. We understand what it is–but videos and how tos showing someone actually doing it would be great.

Hi Jim,
Also to Lorraine, Jeannette, Suzanne and everybody else.

I was so tired last night that I left my comment for today, which gives me the chance to read what everybody said before me.
At the moment if I don’t have you on my telephone or on my computer I have you ipodded into my car……

Jeannettes comments were very to the point for many of us.
I also liked Suzanne Hetts teleconference/accountability idea.

However, my comment is this:
Advanced inspires one to get one’s ‘hands dirty’ and Learn the basic stuff so that one can use the advanced stuff.
Do both.
Mind Maps/Flow charts with Links to Content are Very Useful, in themselves, for finding related content and as a concept that I will use at some point.

Like many fellow members I have not yet seen or listened to all your postings.
I find that pretty exciting really
When I am happily very successful I am certain that I will stay a member of your site even if I find myself taking up some of the offers that I like.

Best Wishes
George

Hi Jim, (Sorry if this is too long)

First, this idea and mind-map approach is a GREAT and, for people llike me, very necessary idea.

Basically, it seems there are 2 or 3 groups of people. 1) Those, like me, struggling to find the time to get the right things going, and 2) those that have done so and have the time to implement all your new stuff. And, maybe, 3) those in between somewhere.

With all the interesting stuff — like massive amounts — on your site, it has come down to Where Do I Start NOW? I used to think I knew, in the first few weeks of your site opening, but my mind soon started running from here to there trying to prioritize it all. — So then I turn my focus back to what I DO know how to do quite well, my life-long profession, which is exactly what I am trying to get away from. Or rather, convert that knowledge and skill to a web-based, members-only training program, like what you are doing.

But I have become overwhelmed with everything on your site; it goes off in so many directions. And it is so hard to keep it all in proper perspective. (The thought has even crossed my mind to cancel my Dan Kennedy — and a few other — subscriptions just to not get distracted more! I still think yours is THE most valuable site.)

Emotionally, the drive is OH…!!! if I just read THIS new article, IT will contain THE SECRET piece of data I need to get moving along again. — But there never really is THE THING. It seems to be THE SYSTEM — all the pieces working together — that is important. There are just too many trees in this forest!

Could you PLEASE deliver a forest with no trees? (Kidding)

Your new 3 step map is a definite step in the right direction in saying DO (or read/study) THIS, and NOTHING ELSE till you have accomplished THAT THING. . . . THEN, do THIS. It always looks like there are 5 or 6 things I must do first.

Some people seem to have the ability to spontaneously get the overall strategy right, and just knock out the details, but others of us, like me, keep getting hung up in the details; i.e., WHICH tactic or step is right for ME right NOW?

And I know it is not a problem of intelligence or drive or ability to get things done. I have figured out stuff about human anatomy and physiology in severe therapeutic situations that very few people have, and am well acknowledged by experts in the field for having done so. Stuff that really works. So I can, in my field, easily tell others which one thing to do next. But I spent years developing it.

For me personally, it is the STRATEGY that counts. As in, do I watch the videos for WordPress blogging on the main member site, or do I watch the ones that came with the Platinum Mini-Site? Or both? Or in which order? And do you cover stuff not in Sherman Hu’s WordPress Tutorials? Or is it redundant?

Since I kept having certain glitches show up in my WP/Semiologic Blog, I got stuck and frustrated and put it all on hold for a while. Like 3 months, because it was too frustrating. (Denis de B. has now helped me get it right, I think.)

Okay. Sorry for the venting here, but unlike a few people, whom I envy for being ready to implement even more tactics, I for one am swimming in a bunchof half done tactics. It makes me feel dumb or incompent, maybe both. I NEED the overall strategy, and the more graphic, mind-map approach makes it much easier for me to grasp. I am the type that when I KNOW what to do do next, it gets done.

Again, sorry for the long rant, but I think I am only elaborating on what others have already said. . . . BTW, None of this is meant as a complaint to you. It is only a bit of a redirect of a portion of your time, energy and immense creativity, and it appears I am not alone in that need

Keep up the great work. Regardless, I WILL catch up one of these days!

Take Care,
David Scott Lynn

Would I enjoy you spending some time showing me how to use what we’ve got rather than continually piling new knowledge on me?

YES! There is a lot of fantastic information on your website, and the list of topics on the right side helps to navigate, of course, as does the search window,
but it is true that I often wonder what to watch or read or study!

Thank you!
