MEGA LESSON: Exploiting Profitable Niches FAST with Ryan Deiss
Ryan shares with us his REAL-WORLD formula for quickly evaluating a niche market’s potential (and NO, it’s not just using the Overture keyword tool).
Ryan walks us step-by-step through each phase of the process!
Drop whatever you’re doing and get this information!
Here’s what we cover in the audio and video segements (you can play them all below) in this lesson:
- How to find niche markets (including places to look it seems only the "big guns" know about)…
- Specifics on how to test the potential of a niche market (and NO, it’s not the Overture Inventory Tool)…
- Ryan’s niche business philosophy about why "competition" is a myth…
- Specific tactics you use – stages you go through – to evaluate a niche FAST and make money in the process…
- "GO" signals that let you know you should keep digging in a market (or ditch it for another and not waste any more time)…
- Ryan’s KILLER strategy for testing a specific type of landing page (he reveals a specific example you can model)…
- He reveals how much time is spent on the follow up messages initially and then once the niche market proves itself…
- Why a "Forced Optin" page is the LAST thing he tests (not the first thing as many "paper" gurus will tell you)…
- Ryan also shares a breakthrough Keyword research tip for highly competitive markets (with expensive keywords) called "Alternate Consumer Groups?…
- We’ll also discuss how this fits and compares to the "Adsense" model and the "affiliate" model!
- We hold an extensive Q&A session after the call…

Great information. Do you need a vote for the updated cloaker?
One last question about clickbank- I used clickbank… then went to shopping cart to be able to upsell, order form, etc. But then I look at all your ebooks and see that you have a private label cart but keep them on clickbank. Could I gain more affiliates through clickbank? Weighing all the options… which would you do? Thanks.
Hi Guys
Â
To Leona
The difference between level 3 and 4 is fuzzy.
I think Ryan takes it to #4 if he feels like it will increase conversion… but if level 3 (testimony page with optin) is doing well, then I think he doesn’t want to push it… unless he wants to take it to the next step with his own product.
To Trey
I think I’m going to release the newest version of the cloaker in August and let the group test it next month (July) – I guess that decision will be dictated by how many people say they would be interested in having it… so we’ll see.
What say you oh loyal TNR Subscribers?
 Jim
“We love you Jim”, “We love you Jim”, “We love you Jim”
I didn’t get a chance to listen to the call or view the videos yet, but I just wanted to let you know up front how much your unexpected gift is appreciated. I had your “Affiliate Link Cloaker” on my “must buy” list, but your generosity has saved me $59! (Let’s see now… $77 minus $59 = … $18 !!! ).
Seriously though, I know that you didn’t have to make this gift available to us and I know that you could have made a “few extra bucks” from those of us who would have bought it anyway, but you decided to “take the high road”. I commend you for that.
In some folks’ eyes you might have foolishly “lost” a $59 sale, but I Gotta Tell You (copyright: Jim Edwards), you’ve gained at least one “lifetime customer/protege” !
Hey, I don’t mean to get all “syrupy” on you, but I just wanted you to know that I, for one, am glad that you don’t just “talk the talk”, but you, indeed, “walk the walk”!
Thanks again, Jim.
Eddie Gilbert
Jim,
I’m still in disbelief that you only charged the initial subscribers $77 / month. I mean, I honestly thought it was going to be at least $150-$200 / month. The cliche “it pays for itself” is an EXTREME UNDERSTATEMENT when talking about this site.
Dude, keep up the good work!!!!
P.S. Oh yeah, we love you Jim.
We love you Jim!
Thanks for the great call the other night with Ryan. Like Eddie, the Affiliate Link Cloaker was on my “To Buy” list. Thanks for this great software! I’m fairly new to internet marketing and appreciate the valuable information you’re providing.
Thanks again,
Kristen
Jim,
I just can’t believe you are for real! Thank you so much for the “unexpected” Cloaker gift. My ears almost fell off hanging on every word you guys talked about. I will be going through all the material over the next few days.
I am really thrilled to be in this program. I have a sign above my computer “If you would like to have something you never had, you will have to do something well, that you haven’t done yet”! Your program is “perfect”. Thank you!!!!!
Therese
Jim,
Right now I’m loving you and Ryan. The initial call alone was worth my first month’s subscription price (like you even needed to add the extra bonuses). If you do something that cool every month, I will be a super happy camper.
One: Just when I thought things were going to get vague, Jim did a great job of pushing Ryan to share specifics. Thank you Jim.
Two: Not only was the main topic presented well, but he said somethings that caused me to realize *something new* about Adwords. I have to say that is especially impressive since I’m already a “Qualified Google Advertising Professional” and I’ve never had an IM teach me anything *useful* about Adwords before. Thank you Ryan.
Three: Love Ryan’s breakdown of the Seven Types of Pay Per Click Ads- anyone who uses PPC needs to download that now because it boils ad writing down to just what works. Trust me, the examples Ryan gives are THE ONLY ONES worth using. I have alot of clients think they can write a “better” ad, and split testing has proven time and time again that the ad types Ryan uses will outperform anything else by at least three times. Oh, and #7 really is a ‘secret weapon’.
Thanks again–Kammy
Yes, we luv ya, Jim. Thanks for the free gift and the great info. Now will you please do me a favor and crash your site for about two weeks? I’m trying to get my product and my website launched and you keep putting stuff on this site that makes me stop and read it for more time than I can spare. Or I click away and worry that I’m going to forget to read something critical to my success. Just two uninterrupted weeks is all I need, Jim. And please don’t post an article on procrastination. I don’t have time to read it. Thanks again.
We love you Jim! I knew I wasn’t ready to use the Affiliate Link Cloaker yet, (I’ll get there!) but I knew I wanted it when I was. It was definitely on my list too. Thank you so much. What a generous surprise
Now I’ve got to get back to ebay and list some things again.. what a surefire way to budget for TNR, while I’m working on my own product. I relate to you Debbie, there is so much to digest here.
What’s special though Jim is that you are truly truly ‘out there’…it’s not like we are doing this all alone. That’s what makes me leave some of the others’ things on the shelf in front of me, as good as they are, while I focus on your mentorship…because you are really ‘here’ and because you make it actually understandable to the point where it could even be do-able
Hi Jim,
Once again you have delivered and done a great job of presenting all the information.
Debbie hope that never happens..Anyways, thanks again
Hi Jim,
You don’t know how your members site has opened up my eyes so far and it is just getting started!! Too bad for the people that didn’t jump on the opportunity to join. Already I feel like part of a special family that can only get better as time goes on. The call was fantastic!! I can’t understand why Ryan would give out all this information but am not complaining at all. Along with others that have already commented I was just about to purchase the Cloaker software. So thank you, I did not expect that fine jesture.
When I get to level four with a product about, “How Jim Edwards saved my Life in the Internet Marketing Arena.” I will give it some thought on cutting you in on some of the profits. ![]()
God Bless you and your family,
Verlyn
Jim,
First: Thanks for the site, and being willing to share your knowledge, and turning us on to the people who have the same desire to share their knowledge as you do.
Since TNR’s site was introduced, I had to be a part of it’s membership, even though I “thought” at the time I couldn’t afford the membership (I’ts so funny how many of us have bought the lie that we are “poor”, because we think “poor”!
Listening to the MP3 recording of Ryan’s “grilling”, and the follow-up call, and seeing bonuses you gave to us, your members (….We love you Jim” in the comments section below is a good response to this unexpected gift)…., I know my sacrifices (ebay, guru.com, rentacoda.com[although I can't code my VCR]), have helped me to this day. Thank you soooooo much.
That having been said, please help me understand the section of the “day after” call, in which you and Ryan discussed (37:30:01+ into the recording) “…running Google Adwords Campaigns and not having a web site….having people click through to an affiliate link.
Please further clarify Google’s “one ad per domain rule”, and the part of your discussion on setting up “generic domains, and the use of “”affiliate link cloaker”.
Thank you,
Reggie
I hope all of us realize the mastery of Jim’s teaching methods. Not only does Jim put forth a superior product, as in this site, supply us with unprecedented insight into the real workings of internet marketing, ask and answer insitefull questions and give the inside look of how all of this stuff works with a no holds bared attitude, but if we take a step back and look at the bigger picture he uses this site as an examaple of how to do it right. “Build a superior product and always deliver more then promised” In my humble opinion Jim is the Michael Jorden of internet marketing instruction and I feel privileged to have been accepted as a student.of the game.
Thanks Jim for giving way more then you recieved.
Bryan
Whoo hoo! Jim, you’re the man!
Thanks so much for passing along Aff Link Cloaker to us members.
And awesome call, well worth the price of admission and more solid, go-do-this-now info that any other call I’ve listened in on. Great ideas for leveraging affiliate marketing while moving towards your own products (where I think we all need to end up eventually).
Oh, and that slight tinge of annoyance in your voice when you were telling Ryan that you didn’t want to hear about the Overture tool, pay $1 per click or spend $500 on a test serves as proof (at least to me) that you really are looking after the little guy and trying to show us how to build a real business and not just throw money at something and pray more comes back. That kinda math works for me!
Looks like I’m going to have a busy weekend.
Regards,
Kenton
Hi Jim, can’t say as I really love you for the Affiliate Link Cloak software give away cause…….I BOUGHT IT….. the day befrore we all signed up for the private website !!!!!!! OUCH !!!! Oh well could be worse, might not have been able to join like soooo many others. The call was fantastic, my head was swirling and I had writers cramp from note taking. Keep the good stuff coming buddy, these are the tips I needed to excell to the next level. (by the way, the software is still worth the $59.00 I paid)
Electronically,
Brian
Jim,
We love you and thanks for the great cloaker gift!! Very generous of you!
The calls and videos are REALLY good stuff and very helpful. And thanks for slowing Ryan down on the videos. Clarity is a far greater benefit than being impressed with someone’s speed.
For those of us with ADD, these audio/visuals are fantastic!
Is it possible to use the cloaker directly on an Adwords ad, or can it only be used on a site page?
This membership site is like coming up for air after being under water several seconds beyond depletion point. You really over-deliver Jim.
Thanks again,
John Â
From Jim:
re the question aobut “Is it possible to use the cloaker directly on an Adwords ad, or can it only be used on a site page?”
You need to upload the cloaked page to your own hosting… and use that link in your ad
Thanks for the unexpected gift “Affiliate Link Cloaker”, Enjoyed Ryan,s MP3 audios.
Unfortunately, I will always miss the live presentations because I work a 3PM to 11PM shift( UGH). I’m currently trying to develop my own mini sites using your minisite creator course. Your member site is so overwhelming it has slowed my progress with the course. I know procrastination. There is no where you can get this much info on the site for $77 a month. Your business much be truly on auto-pilot to generate all the content in the members site.
Thanks for everything.
Great call Jim, I learnt a great deal of information for this and has my mind racing with ideas and now I know how the test them.
Keep up the great work you do for all of us that have been lucky enough to join your members site.
Hi all!
I’m glad everyone got a lot out of the call, and I must admit that I did wind up revealing more than I initially intended. (You guys can thank Jim for forcing it out of me.)
)
I did want to respond to a couple questions that will hopefully clarify some things:
1. Google’s One Ad Per Domain Rule
Google created a new rule in late 2004 that was specifically targeted at affiliate marketers. This rule stated that they would now only show one ad (the one with the highest CPC bid) when multiple advertisers were sending the traffic to the same domain.
So, if you and 3 other affiliates are directing traffic to a particular ClickBank product and you all have your standard affiliate links in the “Destination URLâ€, then only the highest bidder’s ad will show. Obviously this is a problem if you are not the highest bidder.
That leaves you with two options: 1) Bid higher than your competition, or 2) use a redirect link so instead of your affiliate link looking like this:
http://your_cb_id.merchantname.hop.clickbank.net
…it would instead look like this:
http://www.yoursite.com/product-name/
Do you see the difference?
Both URLs would go to the same webpage (and credit you with the sale should one result), but in Google’s eyes your domain name is:
yoursite.com
…NOT:
clickbank.net
The best way to get around this rule (aside from creating your own landing page which you’ll do starting at Level 2) is Jim’s Affiliate Link Cloaker tool, which he was kind enough to give you for free.
2. Distinction Between Level 3 and Level 4
Here’s a breakdown of the levels just for review:
Level 1: Direct Linking (Google Cash model)
Level 2: Pre-Sell Page (Personal Testimony or Product Review)
Level 3: Combination Pre-Sell and Opt-In
Level 4: Forced Opt-In
Level 5: Your Own Product
Most of the time I completely skip Level 3 and go straight to Level 4, but if the offer is converting really well that’s when I’ll want to utilize Level 3 to see if I can generate some opt-ins without sacrificing my sales. If my opt-in rate is decent (say 20% or better) and my sales don’t drop, I’ll then move to Level 4.
Once at Level 4, I want to see my opt-in rate increase significantly (to at least 30% but hopefully higher), and I would like to see my initial sales remain about the same. If they drop a bit that’s ok, because the ability to follow-up with the opt-ins will more than make up for the initial drop in sales, but in my experience this rarely occurs. As we said on the call, the people who would have bought are also the people who have no problem opting-in.
I hope that clears some things up.
-Ryan
Jim,
I have been subscribing to your products for over two years now. I have written to you several times in those two years telling you what a terrific job you do with all your products. You continue to amaze me with your marketing knowledge and ability to distill the information into a format that is understandable by people new to the world of internet marketingl…….. and coming up with new products all the time.
True to your values and marketing advice, you have given your subscribers way more than they expected…… you have “delighted the customer”! This is the sign of a true marketing genius!
Thank you for the unexpected gift of the Afflilate Link Cloaker! I can tell from reading the other comments that everyone has really appreciated your generosity and that goes double for me.
Luv Ya for all the good things that you are doing and for your kindness, generosity and marketing savvy. Looking forward to knowledge packed TNR subscriptions!!
I look forward to getting up each day and rushing to the computer to read the latest entry into the TNR. I get up extra early to read before getting to work on my internet marketing. But like some of your other subscribers who commented, I find that there is so much here to learn and absorb, that I lose track of time and find my morning shortened because I “got lost” in reading the information. I’m learning everyday so there is an ROI.
Thanks again……and can’t wait for the next installment to see what’s next!
Sincerely,
Anita
Thanks for all the good stuff. This call was great.
Like someone said above, I’m digging the price of the membership. During pre-launch, I feared it was going to be over budget for me. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate all you’re doing here.
Larry
PS. Had you ever considered adding a forum to this site? The ability to have discussion could add more than the ability to just comment.
I would volunteer to be a moderator if you needed one.
Jim
Didn’t manage to catch the call live, but have listened to it since (twice!). It got to everything I’d want from a piece on exploiting niches. I also really like the honesty on display (most others avoid the subject of how hard it can be to get traffic).
Please pass on my thanks to Ryan. His insights and the other stuff he contributed were great.
Thanks
Karen, UK
p.s. thanks for the affiliate cloaker too
Jim:
Of course we love you – how could we not? Thanks for the gift – you’re a class act, and, a fine example.
Mike
Thanks
Jim,
Thanks for the ALC !
The call with Ryan was really eye-opening and will help me make a few changes in the way I evaluate and exloit certain niches.
Thanks for the honest, meaty info that you both shared.
Thanks Jim we love ya, not just for the free gift but for all that you share with us.
Jim- just a quick not to say thanks so much. It is hard to get through all the information you provide and the ALC gift was unexpected and greatly appreciated.
Thanks again-
John
thanks, great stuff!
I can tell you that I’m glad you more info out of him than he intended to give, because that’s what I’m here for. The whole picture and the detailed info that will really do the job to make my business really work and really make me money!
So thanks Jim!
That’s what I payed for, and I’m getting it. And I really appreciate it!
I might have a question about how to link to the sales page through my affiliate link on the PPC ad.
I’ll see if I can figure it out first.
Thank you again! This is exactly what I needed. I ahve the web site up and my own product already and was freaking out because even though I used ovurture, I wasn’t getting much traffic and no sales so far.
And I really wanted to know how to make sure if the niche was a good one to keep persueing, so….
Thanks,
Elena
We aim to please… I got a lot out of this session and plan to share our results as they come in
Remember…. TAKE ACTION!
Jim
When using the Cloaker specifically for direct PPC linking to affiliate site (Google Cash model), should we still select the “secure” option when generating the page?
Also, does it matter at all if we put a totally fake web address, one we may not even own, on the “Display URL” section when setting up Adwords (as long as you got the correct cloak address in the “Destination URL”)?
>When using the Cloaker specifically for direct PPC linking
>to affiliate site (Google Cash model), should we still
>select the “secure” option when generating the page?
I don’t think it matters
>Also, does it matter at all if we put a totally fake web
>address, one we may not even own, on the “Display URL”
>section when setting up Adwords (as long as you got the
>correct cloak address in the “Destination URL”)?
Yes, that does matter… you should enter in the url they will see once they have clicked the ad.
When using the ALC software, you would enter in the url you are sending them to, example: http://www.yourdomain.com/toycars.html
Jim
Jim, I have tried following Ryan’s advice. I have identified 41 products on Clickbank and used wordtracker as he suggested. I have subscribed to Keyword Domination. However when I try to set up campaigns with Google adwords all my keywords are ‘inactive for search’ unless I increase CPC by 18 – 36 times! Hardly a cheap, quick way to test markets. I have wasted days sorting keywords into adgroups only to find they are too expensive to run. Any suggestions?
From Jim and Ryan:
Sorry you’re having a problem. We need to know:
1. How long did your campaigns run?
2. HOw much traffic were they getting on average per day?
3. What was your destination URL?
 – if it was a cloaked link using Jim’s cloaker, did you fill in the information in Step 3 (title, keywords, and body copy)?
4. Can you send us the url of the affiliate page you were referring to?
5. The more detail you can give us, the better we can help you.
Please respond to the help desk http://www.ebookfiresupport.com
Jim (and Ryan)Â

Hi Guys — Here is what I found on the Google site. It appears that there is now a “quality score” that makes it a bit more complex. On thing it mentions is the “quality of the landing page.” Any thoughts on that when it comes to the link cloaker?
From Google’s site:
“What’s the lowest amount I can pay per click?
This depends on your keyword’s Quality Score, which is determined by your keyword’s clickthrough rate (CTR) on Google, relevance of ad text, historical keyword performance on Google, the quality of your ad’s landing page, and other relevancy factors. The higher the Quality Score, the lower the minimum bid and price you’ll pay when someone clicks on your ad. In some cases, you can even pay as little as your currency’s smallest denomination (for example, 1 cent in USD) if you have a very high Quality Score. So you should aim for the highest quality keywords, ads, and campaigns possible to drive down your advertising costs.
To learn more about the minimum CPC in your target location, visit our form of payment finder.”
So… bottom line — does this mean that there is more to it than we first heard in the seminar. I am very excited about the possibilities here and i totally LOVE the value you are providing. Thank you!
Cheers
R
I have a phone meeting with Perry Marshall in the morning and had a long meeting with Ryan this morning… we’re running some test and should have an update for you next week.
Jim Â
Thanks Jim. I love the site, the value and am in blissful creative overwhelm!! I love it!
Cheers
Roger
A question.
What are your thoughts on the “double opt in” option on the 1 Shopping Cart Autoresponders? If I use that on the squeeze page, they have no reason to respond to the double opt in link e-mail since I am either sending them to the download page or the afilliate site when they click submit. Do you use the double opt in feature? 1 Shopping cart “stronly reccommends” that we use it as they were wrestling with some providers and their spam service. what are your thoughts?
Thanks
R
From Jim:
I would say that you can do a double opt-in on a free offer, but you don’t have to do one…. and you sure shouldn’t do one on a purchase.
If you’re worrried about bogus emails, don’t take them to the download or “bribe” on clicking the button… tell them they get the link by return email… that helps your conversion immensely.
Jim Â
Â
Sorry for all the questions… This one is about the Link Cloaker software. There is that rule where Google says that if there are multiple links goig to the same domain, it will only use the one with the highest PPC. Lets say I am hosting 5 different cloaked redirect pages to 5 different products in 5 different niches. Does that mean google will only use mydomain for the one link with the highest CPC? Meaning that the other 4 pages, even though to a different niche and product, will go unused? Hope that is a clear question.
Thanks
Roger
From Jim:
That restriction is for each keyword search… if you’re in different niches, you can use the same domain over and over… it’s not a problem. You just can’t have multipe ads leading to the same domain appear in the same keyword search.
Jim Â
It’s amazing how fast you can create a cloaked link with this software once you know how to do it.
It took me literally 3 minutes from start to finish!
You know what …. I still refer back to these videos! Great job on this information. Just curious if anyone has done a comparison between KW Domination (what Ryan uses), KW Discovery (what Jim mentioned) and Google’s KW tool (the one in Adwords)?
Regards, Doug
Jim/Ryan,
This was absolutely superb – many thanks for putting this together.
Just a very quick question – on average, how many campaigns do you set up before you hit a ‘winner’, obviously not every campaign that you start will prove profitable so I was just wondering what kind of strike rate you experience.
For instance, if I wanted to set up oil wells as previously discussed here at TNR, how many campaigns would it take to find a profitable niche/product? I know this is similar to the ‘how long is a piece of string’ question but is there some kind of approximate number I need to be looking at to hit my target i.e. set up 5 campaigns per week and on average one of those will be a hit.
Many thanks,
Simon
Hi Simon,
Unfortunately, there is no “absolute” answer to that.
It might take 1… it might take 100 to “hit it big”
My advice is to think in terms of 10 (that’s what I do)
Whenever I do 10 things, 1 always seems to work out well and 2 or 3 seem to work out fairly well… and the other 6 or 7 don’t do much.
Also, with time you’ll get better and better!
JIm
Thanks for that Jim – I know that you’re busy so I really appreciate you taking the time to give great support.
Many thanks,
Simon
Hi Jim,
I realize this is an old class, but it is still in the Vault, and I thought I d have a look.
I have two questions, please:
1- this thing does not work:
“How To” Article Posting:
How To Quickly Write a “Product Review” Pre-Sell Page
(will pop new window)
leads to the dashboard
I searched “How to quickly write a product review”, got a weird weird text, full of html bugs, and when I clicked on the title to get to the page – and my browser crashed.
If this article – or whatever it is – is still available, may I please have a link that works?
thanks a lot!
Sylvie.
2 – affiliate link cloaker:
p.s. Second question:
I have purchased the Mini-site creator – the affiliate link cloaker is in it, isn’t it?
Hi, The links for the software are dead,
and from the Dashboard>Software>Affiliate Link Cloaker,
I get to “Thank you for ordering…” and THAT does not work, either.
I understand that this is an old lesson, but the links need to be edited, then.
How do I get that piece of software, please?
Thank you!
Sylvie.
Jim, just a quick thank you for a super great call last night. Just got to log in now tonight….thanks for everything. The call was great and I liked the way you asked the good questions to Ryan as it was going along
I was a little unsure about the difference between ‘ level 3 and level 4 ‘ about the opt-in methods, but i’m hoping it’s covered in the questions you posted tonight… in the mp3 or maybe it’s in the video on the testimony page info…. well, have a good trip to atlanta!
